Fam tour Sustainable Meet Stockholm - a nudge in a more sustainable direction
The best way to learn and get inspired about a destination and it’s meeting facilities is to experience it yourself. In mid-october we arranged our 2nd fam tour and this time all our participants took a round trip with the night train from Hamburg to Stockholm.

A little nudge in a more sustainable direction. That was the theme on this years fam tour that took place in mid-october with invited participants form Germany. The tour started by night train from Hamburg to Stockholm with our partner the Swedish train company SJ.
Upon arrival in Stockholm where the weather was a bit chilly, a refreshing bike tour was arranged by our partner Stockholm Adventures. The adventure company, whose head office is just five minutes from the train station, offers both summer and winter activities and provides with suitable clothes, helmets and experienced guides.
The tour continued with a visit in the beautiful City Hall of Stockholm. This is the location of the Nobel Banquet and lot’s of other banquets during the year. The food and beverage is arranged by Stadshusrestauranger – which uses, as far as possible, regional ingredients, locally grown, seasonally focused and preferably organic.
Meetings with all our partners
Followed by the lunch in the cellar of the city hall, where last year nobels dessert was on the menu, we biked through the city, to one of the piers by the Baltic Sea. Here Ecosightseeings electrical boat was waiting and took us on a silent and suggestive tour under the bridges of Stockholm.
The famtour lasted from Friday to Sunday and was filled of excellent food, activities as sailing on the Baltic Sea while enjoying a swedish fika, and guided tours in the historical Münchenbryggeriet and the impressive Vasa Museum.
The participants stayed one night at Courtyard Marriott next to the green lung Rålambshovsparken and one night at Hotel J. A boutique hotel located at the entrance to Swedish archipelago, yet just a stone throw away from the Stockholm City pulse.
Last but not least the participants was given a very informative tour in the Stockholm International Fair where we had a chance to understand how they have implemented ideas in terms of sustainability.
A mindfully crafted fam tour
One of the best ways to understand what sustainability is all about, is to see and experience it for yourself in practice. Here is a few words from of one the participants:
”The program was mindfully crafted. In the past, when I joined a familiarization trip I often thought it is a pity I don't get an idea, what is possible or how good the suppliers really are. The usual setup is to squeeze buyers in a bus and shuttle them around or have one -two days in a row in a meeting room without daylight.
But we saw in practice what they all can do for us. Thank you, this was a very valuable experience. It was very wise to organize networking time around site inspections or activities. I will definitely recommend all suppliers, to my agency or partners in my network”.
