Hello there, what is your name and what role do you have at your company?

- Hi, I'm Mikaela Stangebye and I work as a Business Development Manager at Stockholm Exhibition & Congress Center – or Stockholmsmässan in Swedish.

In my department, Congresses and Guest Events, we manage all inquiries from external organizers. This means that we handle requests from all sorts of MICE and association clients that are searching for a versatile venue for their events.

How would you describe your venue?

- We offer a dynamic meeting place for everyone, anytime. Stockholm Exhibition & Congress Centre (Stockholmsmässan) is the largest exhibition facility in the Nordic region. For more than 70 years we have been the place where organized meetings have provided inspiration, knowledge and acted as a force to drive business. The personal meeting is the basis for our communication as people. Nothing can replace it. This applies to everything from unexpected personal meetings during networking to large, organized sessions during congresses with tens of thousands of participants.

We love meetings - all kinds of meetings - and Stockholm Exhibition & Congress Centre is the perfect meeting place for an international summit, business meeting or a trade show. As a full-service venue, we pride ourselves on delivering everything you need to create a professional event and to always provide outstanding products & services with sustainability in focus.

Can you describe with a few words how you work with sustainability at your venue and why that is important to you?

- At Stockholmsmässan, we are committed to sustainability, and we have three core focus areas: Sustainable Community, Environment, and Innovation.

We actively interact with partners and participate in collaborations like Net Zero Carbon Events to find innovative ways of reducing our environmental impact while enhancing our positive contributions. One of our notable initiatives is the Nordic Sustainability Expo, a dedicated platform for sustainability in the Nordic region.

Internal knowledge sharing is integral to our sustainability efforts. Each year, we organize a three-day internal event, where each day focus on one of our core areas.

Our venue, owned by the City of Stockholm, aligns with the city's vision for sustainability, encompassing climate, innovation, and social responsibility. We've been ISO-certified for sustainable events since 2019 and have achieved a SHORE Gold certificate for Safe Exhibitions.

Finally, please give us some of your favorite spots in Stockholm?

 - I adore water and open areas. Luckily, Stockholm offers abundant water resources, and the proximity of the archipelago to the city center is a true luxury. My preferred locations include lofty spots like rooftop bars, restaurants, and the panoramic view from City Hall's tower, as well as serene moments on the water.
