Awards and recognitions

Stockholm is a city in the forefront of sustainability. Back in 1972 Stockholm took the initiative to, and hosted, the first UN world environment conference. A conference that put environmental issues on the agenda and launched the global environment work. In 2010 the city was the first in Europe to be awarded the European green capital for its environmental credentials.

In April 2024 Stockholm and Royal Djurgården have the honor to host the GSTC world congress on sustainable tourism.

With nature in the city, surrounded by water, Stockholm continues to be a role model for sustainable living, travel and meetings.

Recently Royal Djurgården, one of the greenest islands in Stockholm, that attracts millions of visitors a year, received Green Destination Platinum award for it’s sustainability work. The second city to receive it after Ljubljana in Slovenia.

The most popular attraction in the Royal Djurgården is Vasa museum, with it’s restaurant that offers a unique meeting venue. To have dinner in the Ship Hall, next to the warship Vasa is something you don’t want to miss. It is the ultimate experience of Swedish history combined with the finest food and drinks, and gives your guest a night to remember.
